It's Monday. Again. The start of another long week.
To be completely honest, this Monday is the beginning of my "short" week at work. As a dispatcher, I work a 12-hour rotating schedule. I'll be off today and Friday--Sunday. The flip side of that? Next week, I'll work every night except Wednesday and Thursday.
But, even with the way I work, my week is still full of the everyday home chores that must be done. Shuffling my little nerdling to and from school, cooking, cleaning, laundry . . . it's the never-ending cycle of adulthood.
And I have to work my writing into my schedule. I'm on a tight deadline right now, so it's a little crazy around my house. My husband has been great at helping out where he can, bless him.
So today, when I get off work at 6 am, I'll rush home, feed my nerdling some breakfast, and make sure she's dressed appropriately before hustling her into the car. Then I'll throw in a load of laundry and sit down with my notebook. No nap for me! Not until I get at least half of my daily word count down.
I'll make this deadline, even if I miss sleep and the dishes stay piled up in the sink. I have to; I gave my word, and I don't want to disappoint my readers. I have a book releasing October 13, one that is part of a special project with several other authors.
I can't wait to share the details and book cover with you!
Until then, I'll just keep writing and guzzling down massive amounts of coffee. Happy Monday, everyone!
How do you spend your Mondays?
Very nice post! If there is anything I can do to help please let me know.
