L.I.E.S. - A Review

I read a new release the other day, by a new author. A. Muse is the talented writer who penned L.I.E.S.: Loyalty is Ensuring SurvivalI have to say I was impressed.

This is not my usual genre, but I read it based on a friend's recommendation.  L.I.E.S. is a LGBT book, a romance with subplots that will keep you on the edge of your seat. And once you finish reading, you realize that love is love, no matter how it's presented.

Love is complex. It’s waking in the morning and falling asleep at night with a single person on your mind. They occupy the space in your head from dusk till dawn.
Love is obsessive. It’s the knowledge that you belong. When you love someone, you give yourself to that person fully. Your heart, mind, and soul is consumed by them. You promise to take care of them. You are at their beck and call. You become their follower, or maybe the more appropriate word is stalker.
But what do you do when the one you love betrays you? Do you cry and beg them not to leave? Do you try to make them understand love is not temporary? Do you tell them not to be so cruel?
No. You make them understand lies won’t be tolerated. You make them see it’s till death do you part. And loyalty ensures survival.

My Review: 5 stars. I loved this book. It is well thought out, unique and captivating. From the moment I started reading, I could not put it down. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Even when you thought you could predict the next step, you couldn't. The author kept you guessing, right up until the end.
I love the character Harper Brown. He's slightly crazy, but loyal and loving. His ultimate goal is to find a great love, like his mother and father had. If you betray him, you don't live long enough to tell the story. Harper handles his business. Most of the time Archer Wistinson, known as Blaze, a boy Harper works with in the bakery his abusive sister owns, is all in his business. They are fire and ice together.
Blaze, surprisingly enough, is as crazy as Harper. He isn't above killing people who hurt his family and the people he loves. He loves Harper Brown the way Harper has always wanted to be loved. Together, they'll do anything for the family they eventually form.
Even kill old friends, and first loves.
If you want a fast paced book that will keep you on your toes, always guessing and give you LGBT characters to hope and cheer for, this is the book for you. If you're looking for a sweet romance with tension, and a slow burn, this book is for you. If you're looking for something to pass the afternoon with, wrapped in a warm blanket, this book is for you.
Don't miss out on this book. You can get your Kindle copy here.
